Poppies Fields

This year is the British Legions 100th year anniversary. To celebrate the occasion this beautiful shoot was created in the poppy fields near Ditchling, West Sussex by the very talented Lisa@tayloredweddingplanner .

When Lisa asked me if I would like to be involved  I felt  honoured and jumped at the chance. It was a dream day... A Florist in a field of poppies.

The shoot was styled to reflect War time Britain. Weddings at the time were literally a case of make do and mend with what was ever available. Bridal dresses were sometimes made from parachute silk.

Food rationing was in full swing so the wedding cake was not a grand design like we have today; and of course the florals were what was in season at the time they got married.

A lot of the bouquets were made from garden blooms and seasonal foliage. With this in mind a least 90% of the botanicals used in the display are either home grown by myself, or gifted to me from friends or family.

I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to all of our 'Hero's' past and present that both risked and gave their lives to give us the freedom we all enjoy today.
